Gunter Puttrich-Reignard (married: Gunter Trube)
1960 - †2008

Transvestitism artist and drag queen (RAD - rainbow alliance of the deaf, winner 1991) and sign language performer. Gifted athlete in his youth, and Deaflympics participants. Bartender for 15 years in the underground bar and scene-pub "Kumpelnest 3000" (Berlin, Germany). World-renowned actor and storyteller and poet in sign language. Activist for AIDS education and HIV counseling for the deaf. Winner of the German "Deaf-Culture-Award" for his life's work. Figurehead, heart & soul of the deaf emanzipatzion for the deaf culture/ sign language recognition and gay rights movement. Through his many world travels a world citizen. 2005 marriage to Tom Trube. Died in 2008 without a disease on a heart attack. Gunter is a founder of the international carnival. At 31th march we will show you many films of his art and poetry.

Ace Mahbaz & Rita Mazza
presents the 3rd INTERNATIONAL CARNIVAL OF THE DEAF

The Iranian exceptional artist Ace Mahbaz and the Italian-born character actress Rita Mazza, are the deaf shooting-stars in Europe. They are the center and brain of the theater group "Davanti Theater". Their breakthrough came e.g. with "Metroworld" and "Amor Jr.". For the Amor-adaption they get (and Giuseppe Giuranna too) a giant STANDING OVATIONS at the "Festival Clin d`Oeil 2009" (Reims/France). They have also developed two virtual internet characters: Joker Clown and Heiko, which balance on the boundary of the ironic black humor. The two invite you to the 3rd International Carnival of the deaf, enjoy it!

Bernard Bragg (BB)
a living legend

"Don" Bernie Bragg, better known as BB (the ZfK called him:) - the godfather of deaf theatre, was born in Brooklyn, New York, on September 27, 1928, to deaf parents. Bragg entered Gallaudet College (now University), where he studied theater. An accomplished performer, writer, director, poet, and artist, Bernard Bragg’s career paralleled the flowering of modern-day Deaf theater, art, and prose, and continues to this day in the 21st century. He is a famous founder and teacher of VV (visual vernacular). 2008 he celebrates his 80th birthday. His Modena-visit honors the carnival, because his europe-visits are rare. He was a good friend of gunter. - Who has never seen him LIVE, should never miss THIS SHOW!

Rosaria & Giuseppe Giuranna
the royal family of rhytm

The brother and sister Rosaria and Giuseppe Giuranna come from Palermo/ Sicily. They form that royal duo of Rhythm. No deaf person on earth has so much musical poetry in their blood than those two. In addition, Giuseppe Giuranna (also well-known as "Recital Jose") is the king of VV (visual vernacular), a poem-stil in sign language - a big visual art and it`s like you watch (and you feel into) a cinematic-camera-work and film editing. Rosaria is known as a famous deaf poet and philosopher of the deaf in Italy. As Giuseppe lived for many years now in Germany, this duet-performance is unique and rare: A fact, and no one of you should miss it! That's a rarity like good old wine: you can not find it - nowhere. Or is it? Then, just in Italy !

The Italian clown and stand-up comedian is known throughout Italy for his creative work for deaf children, as well as for adults. Unforgettable his is his One-Man-Show and DVD "PA-PA". His humor is never without a background and stimulate to thinking. Caia supports ENS (Ente Nazionale Sordi) and ENS supports Caia. He always creates a good atmosphere and that is what he will do at the 3rd international carnival of the deaf! We are happy for he`s coming and looking forward to him! You too?

Christina Schönfeld
Opera Diva

Mrs. Schoenfeld is one of the founder of the International Carnival of the Deaf and  and managing director of ZfK. But the greatest fact is: She is a world-renowned opera star.
A deaf opera star? Of course!!! Their operettas and concerts in cooperation with the composer Helmut Oehring are always sold out since 1998. It is considered a pioneer in the field of "deaf and singing", or even sign-language-choreography. She and her husband Uwe was good old friends of Gunter, they three makes some very funny movies like "the shool joke" (= we will show this film at the 31t march!) Experience the Diva LIVE, she will rehearse specially for you a show. Visually brilliant and loud (!!!)

Brian Duffy
dangerous & good like scotch malt

The actor, director and presenter of Scotland is "Mr. 150%" - he is full of energy and visual power. Among his best known works are the two films, "The Guest" and "The End". Psst! Susanne Genc & Marco Lipski
visual comedy

The comic duo played together theatre since 1995. Since 1999 are their gags and comedys cult at the German television. No matter which new gag they again worked out, in the end is always one of the two THE IDIOT. In their jokes they grows into many differnet and various characters and costumes. Both twice won the German Theatre Festival of the Deaf. Susanne has a reputation as a "female Gunter". Marco (he played also the stand-up show "deaf caveman") was Gunters best friend and he lived with him and his husband some months at their appartment 2007. Also he was organized Gunters "after-funeral-get-together". The art of "Susanne & Marco" explains Charlie-Chaplin-quote as best: "A day without laughter is a day wasted!" Do you want wasted this day: 31th march 2012? No? Then come on!
