THE STORY BEHIND THE HISTORY:

Gunter Puttrich-Reignard, one of the most famous DEAF in the world, said to his friends: "We the DEAF CULTURE always organize DEAF THEATRE FESTIVALS or DEAF SIGN LANGUAGE FESTIVALS or WORLD CONGRESSES or WORLDGAMES/DEAFLYMPICS, why not just simply & crazy DRESS UP and drink for a good cause!" The idea was born and Gunter, his friends and the ZFK (centre for culture and visual commonication, Berlin) founded the first international carnival of the Deaf 2000 in Beesd / Amsterdam. A GREAT EVENT WITH OVER 1500 VISITORS! Gunter died unexpectedly in 2008 of a heart attack. Since the ZFK leads the carnival continues, with the aim of eventually founding a "Gunter Puttrich-Reignard & Trube Foundation." The Foundation should to help deaf actors/actresses and artists in Europe to make their dreams true of a professional training and organize workshops, seminars and summer academies, just as it was Gunter's lifetime dream to build an HIV / AIDS 24h-Support for the deaf. The ZfK e.V. have made it to their life's work to implement this. Gunter - was the greatest deaf gay performer, storyteller and poet in the world. (Caution: WE WILL SHOW YOU AT THE PARTY MANY FILMS WITH SHOWPARTS OF HIS ingenious LIFETIME-WORK, nonstop!!!)
He married Tom Trube, his Big L. His mother Helga won in 1991 in the USA the "best gay-mother in the world" award. His brother Rolf and his family live in Berlin every year and he organize the "Deaf Rock Festival" in the sense of the 50s and 60s.


In Honor of GUNTER (1960 - 2008)
